Setting up AK8963C Compass chip SPI Oshonsoft

Hi,
I am using the AK8963C Compass chip as opposed to the HMC5883L which has an AK8963N chip on it, on a project. They look the same, but have differences.

I am getting odd results, so I'm trying to clarify each step to find out why.
